Book binding - 16th

Book binding - 16th century. Meant to be made for Queen Catherine of Medici, with initials H + C (for Henri and Catherine) but the letters are intertwined as to form the letter 'D' which stands for Diane de Poitiers, the mistress of King Henri II.
